The Lila Wedding Invitation Set

I'm so excited about the newest addition to my wedding invitation collection. My invitations are all floral in nature and this was the first time I really played up the type instead of a floral element.

It's a little hard to see the fun type in this first picture so here are a few more:

As you can see I didn't completely abandon the floral elements. This is the most downplayed I've ever gone with them though, and I am quite happy with the finished result!
What do you think!?

Sneak Peak

Because our little bundle of joy is due to arrive at the beginning of September I have been busy trying to get everything prepped for holiday season in my etsy shops. This meant designing, printing, and photographing any calendars I wanted to offer up for 2013.

Last year I went all out and designed five different calendars to choose from. I received a lot of positive feedback from the different options and decided that this year would be no different. I offer the calendars in two sizes "long and skinny" and "short and fat"  :) Collections range from all flowers, all animals, and mixes of animals/flowers/cameras/bikes.

Every year I keep one of the test calendars for myself, and this year I chose the all floral calendar (the "short and fat" calendar with the pretty purple flowers in the lower right hand corner in the picture above). However this was not my favorite calendar. My favorite calendar was already claimed by a family member who always enjoys picking out one of the test calendars to use in her craft room each year. My personal favorite calendar this year is a "long and skinny" calendar with a mix of prints:

You can find this calendar and more listed in my shop around the beginning of September! There will be one small change to the five calendars pictured at the top, but I'll leave that surprise for when I list them :)

Full Collection

For my wedding collections I offer a fixed price for two pieces - the invitation itself and coordinating RSVP (each with matching kraft envelopes). But I can also add on a multitude of extra pieces should the couple need them. The problem was showing all the extra pieces so that customers could get a sense of what is available.

Here is something I've come up with to show off the extra pieces
(bear with me because the size is restricted on here!)

What do you think?
Along with each digital picture is the size of the cards used for the proofs. My hope is to do this with every wedding collection in the shop.

The Elise Collection

I'm so excited about the newest addition to my wedding invitation collection. I have wanted to do a mason jar and flower illustration for some time now but wasn't sure how to go about it. I must admit the jar had me a bit tricked up!

However I think the final result is quite nice! I'm so happy to have it up completed and up in the shop.

In the works are some cherry blossom invitations and possibly some hydrangea invitations.
I'm also working on my 2013 line of calendars. It might seem a bit early for these, but I want to have them all finished and ready for listing a.s.a.p. I normally list my calendars in September, which is exactly when little lady is due to enter the world! So I think having a good head start on them will make the month of September a bit easier for me.  :) More on those in a little bit!

Before the Bells

Before you hear those wedding bells, you need to save the date!
I designed just two new save the date cards, but I am really in love with them:

I can't even say which one I like better than the other.
Now if you will excuse me I need to finish up a special crocheted blanket for a little girl's nursery :)
And of course there will be photos once it is completed!

Do You Hear Wedding Bells?

So as promised, I am going to use these next few posts to show you some of the new work I've been doing the last few months!

First thing I want to show you is the new collection I am most excited about.
My Wedding Invitation Collection!

All invitations can be printed in one of two different paper options:

This has been something I've wanted to do for a long time, and I am so glad that I it is finally all coming together! What do you think? Do you have a favorite collection? I really like them all, but I think The Olive Collection or Claire Collection would be my personal favorites :)

New & Exciting

Hello Everyone!
It feels so good to be blogging under the Olive&Ruby name!

It took me a while to decide, but I am now the proud worker bee behind Olive and Ruby on Etsy, and Olive and Ruby Kids (formerly Cabbages and Kings Art). I wanted to tie the two shops together more closely, and felt this was a great way to do it. Once I had completed the task of changing my shop name I decided a blog re-do was in order as well! It is going to take me a little bit to get everything looking as it did before, but I thought it was ready enough for its first post.

So while I've been spring cleaning my shops and blog, I've also been growing a little human. I'll tell you compared to when I was pregnant with my son this has been tough work. For 12 long weeks I was sick morning, noon, and night. As the all day sickness began to disappear I was hit with bronchitis. I was hit with it so bad that I ended up in the hospital as they wanted to make sure I didn't have pneumonia. A few weeks after that I finally started to feel like me again. I had one small cold when I was pregnant with my son and that was it! So I started to wonder, might we have a wee little lady on our hands?

Yes, we do :)

We found out that a little girl is indeed on her way last week and are just over the moon with the news. Our little boy gets a little sister, and our family will be complete.

I have also been working on loads of new work for the shops, and I'll use the next few posts to update you on all of that. In the meantime I am off to recharge with a bit of sleep. A teething little boy has kept his parents up almost every night. Guess he thought he wanted to remember the sleepless nights of infants before his little sister arrives!
